Chiropractic neurology on Long Island
Two board-certified chiropractic neurologists and a chiropractic team in eight offices across Suffolk and Nassau counties, inside a neurosurgery, pain management and physical therapy practice. Chiropractic care is also offered at our Astoria and Newark offices.
What a chiropractic neurologist does
A chiropractor with board certification in neurology looks beyond the spine, at how the brain and nerves control movement, balance and pain. No surgery, no medication.
Nervous system evaluation
How the brain and nerves control movement, balance and pain: vestibular and oculomotor testing, posture and coordination assessment.
Electrodiagnostic testing
EMG and nerve conduction studies to locate a compressed or damaged nerve, in the same office.
Functional neurological rehabilitation
Balance, coordination and posture exercises that retrain how the brain and body work together, for scoliosis, after a concussion and in other movement problems.
Hands-on chiropractic care
Adjustments, soft tissue therapy and scoliosis-specific programs, coordinated with the practice's neurosurgeons, pain management and physical therapy.

Common questions
What is a chiropractic neurologist?
A Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) with postgraduate training and board certification in clinical neurology from a chiropractic neurology board. A chiropractic neurologist evaluates how the brain and nervous system control movement, balance and pain, and treats without surgery or medication: functional neurological rehabilitation, adjustments, exercise programs and orthotics.
Is it the same as seeing a neurologist?
No. A neurologist is a medical doctor (MD) who diagnoses and treats diseases of the nervous system, with medication when needed. A chiropractic neurologist is a chiropractor with board certification in neurology who treats with rehabilitation and hands-on care. At New York Brain, Spine & Joint both are on the same team, together with neurosurgeons, pain management and physical therapy, and you are referred to whoever is right for you.
What conditions do they treat?
Scoliosis in adolescents and adults, back and neck pain, sciatica, headache, neuropathy, injuries from auto accidents, sports and work, TMJ pain, and balance and coordination problems, including those that follow a concussion.
Which offices have a chiropractic neurologist or a chiropractor?
West Islip, North Babylon, Patchogue, Port Jefferson Station, Riverhead, Huntington Station, Glen Cove, Great Neck. Each office lists who sees patients there; see the list on this page.
Do I need a referral?
No. Request a consultation with the form on this page or call (631) 600-9400. If you already have imaging or an EMG report, bring it to the first visit.
What happens at the first visit?
A history, a physical and neurological examination and, when needed, balance, oculomotor or electrodiagnostic testing. You leave with a plan: chiropractic care, functional rehabilitation, a scoliosis program, or a referral to another specialist in the practice.
